Certificate of Professional Competence

The requirement for a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is contained in the Goods Vehicle (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995 and it is these regulations that implement European Union Directive 74/561.
It is this European Union directive that requires somebody who wants to be an owner driver or to run a transport company for hire and reward, to be:-
- Professionally competent i.e. A CPC Holder
- Of good repute
- O
f appropriate financial standing
The qualification is in three parts with the course presented to allow students to confidently sit the OCR examination that, which once passed, proves competence.
There are three parts to these exams
- Unit 1 - Core, 30 multiple choice questions in 45 minutes with 70% pass mark
- Unit 2 - Freight National, 40 multiple choice questions in 60 minutes with 70% pass mark
- Unit 4 - Case Study, 8 questions answered long hand in 2 hours pass 50% pass mark
We can offer this as home study with exams place. We can also arrange for CPC International as home study with an exam place. All exams are taken quarterly in March, June, September and December with a closing date of three weeks prior to exam date and an approximate wait of 8 weeks for the published result.
